Watercress and Strawberry Salad

January 19, 2022 by Marc Matsumoto Leave a Comment

Watercress & Strawberry Salad on a plate

It might sound odd for strawberries to be in season in winter for those in the US, but the height of strawberry season here in Japan is December-January. From my understanding, we grow a cold-weather varietal here that isn't as hardy as other types but makes up for it in flavor and sweetness.

I'm not usually a big fruit-in-salad fan, but I was craving something light and bright the other night. So, after a rummage through my veggie drawer, I found a wilting bunch of watercress I'd plucked a few leaves from and a couple of stray strawberries that had fallen out of their carton. The recipe for Matcha Furikake is on my other site, No Recipes.

Marc Matsumoto

Welcome!

I started No Recipes back in 2007 as a place to share original dishes I'd created with friends. It's since evolved into something much bigger than I could have imagined, but as it grew, the focus shifted from inventing dishes to improving classics. In the spirit of how No Recipes began, I'm bringing back my weekly original recipes for all of my supporters and friends!
